This is a portrait of the most inspiring woman I know, Indigo (also m'lady;), and it was my first experiment in a style I'm calling "Color Armor".  It pairs the miraculous Madagascan Sunset Moth wing scales (painted in oils) with a meticulously rendered portrait (charcoal pencil drawing) to mirror the boldness I see in her, and to remind her (and myself) to flaunt those bold colors because the more vulnerable we allow ourselves to be the stronger our coat of armor.

This is a portrait of my girlfriend Indigo who has been my biggest fan and inspiration as an artist, painted in a style I'm calling "Color Armor." It applies the pattern and bold colors of the Madagascan Sunset Moth's wing scales with detailed portraiture to mirror the boldness I see in her, and to remind her (and myself) that to be vulnerable is to be strong.
